2026

After the success of exhibiting Forams – The Structure of Venice and Aqua Alta – Reclaiming in the 2024 Personal Structures Exhibition, in association with the Venice Biennale, Peter has been invited to participate in the 2026 exhibition with a focus on sculpture.

Peter’s goal is to create three abstract sculptures in Venice, to be exhibited at the 2026 Venice Biennale, before they return home to be showcased across six Sydney venues.

These works are inspired by microscopic organisms called Forams – the invisible architects that helped build both Venice and the Great Barrier Reef. Their story connects the Venice Lagoon with the Georges River in Western Sydney, where researchers from UNSW and Venice have collaborated on ground/water breaking studies.

These minute organisms are key indicators of the health of waterways such as the Venice Lagoon, Great Barrier Reef, and Georges River – yet they face extinction by the end of this century due to climate change.

Through art, we aim to make the invisible visible, raising awareness of how climate change threatens not just Forams, but the balance of all life – including ours. World heritage listed Venice is the flagship venue for this major worldwide issue.

Peter’s friends and project partners are Tilt Industrial Design have taken his rough sketches and clay models and turned them into sophisticated digital formats suitable for contemporary manufacturing techniques overseas.

Exhibition Location: The Biological Science Building, University of NSW. Available to the public 9am – 5pm. On display til 31st December, 2026.

Peter participated in Aus Art Day on the 23rd October, 2025, by launching his Australian Cultural Fund campaign Sculpting the Unseen, Venice & Sydney. Offering tax deductible donations.
