Assisted by the Aboriginal Advisory Committee, Gadigal, this piece references the fishing practices and crafts used by the Aboriginal people, each October, to go to the river and fish for eels. The mosaic design depicts eels gathering at the full moon in October before they make their way down the estuary to the open sea. It was designed by Leanne Tobin.
The ‘skatehaters’ were designed and manufactured specifically for this project in the form of shellfish available from the river. They are constructed of hand forged stainless steel.
